Molybdenum and Molybdenum Alloy

Molybdenum has good thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity and low expansion coefficient (which is similar to glass for electronic tubes), and high strength at high temperature (1100~1650℃); compared to tungsten, it’s easy to be processed, thus be widely applied in manufacturing of electronic tubes (grid and anode), and electric light source (support materials), and metal processing tools (die-cast and extrusion mold and perforation heads), and applied in the aerospace industry. Also, molybdenum is resistant to etching of molten glass, and its oxides do not pollute glass; since 1943, molybdenum materials have been used in the glass industry for producing heating electrodes. Molybdenum is also used in the production of parts of heat exchangers and valves and other components for manufacturing sulphuric acid.

Molybdenum alloys have more superior performance to make up the shortness of molybdenum, such as low temperature brittleness, insufficient welding performance, oxidation and recrystallization, which widens applications of molybdenum. The Mo-30W alloy produced by ATTL has excellent resistance to molten zinc corrosion, and has been successfully applied in the zinc smelting industry. TZM alloy is widely used in high-temperature furnace parts. Because of their excellent performance from rare earth elements, molybdenum-lanthanum and molybdenum-tantalum alloys are widely used in high-temperature applications. By combining the two elements, molybdenum-rhenium alloy can have high-temperature physical properties of rhenium, and good mechanical properties of molybdenum, thus having both excellent performances. Molybdenum-rhenium alloy is widely used in the electronics industry, the nuclear industry and the aerospace industry.

ATTL produces a variety of tubes, rods, plates, ingots, crucibles and various large-scale special-shaped products made of molybdenum and molybdenum alloys, such as parts of high temperature furnace, components of electronic tubes, semiconductors and high temperature crucibles, anodes for lamps, various electrodes, glass industry parts, thermocouple bushing, porous body and complex, etc.
