Field Introduction

Furnaces for glass and fiberglass products are divided into flame heating furnaces and electric melting furnaces. Electric melting kilns can be divided into all-electric melting furnaces, electric hybrid kilns and electric boosting kilns; electric melting kilns have begun to slowly replace flame heated kilns to meet national energy conservation and environmental protection requirements.



Electric glass melting furnaces are widely used in the production and manufacture of bottle glass, pharmaceutical glass, optical glass, glass ceramics, glass fibers etc. The working principle of electric glass melting furnaces is to use molybdenum electrodes for electric heating. The glass is electrified at high temperature to generate Joule heat, which is used to melt the glass. Various specifications of molybdenum rod and plate electrodes can meet the needs for different electric melting furnaces. This kind of molybdenum electrode is low in cost and offers good energy savings, while providing good resistance to glass liquid corrosion, uniform electric load and current density, uniform temperature in the furnace, and stable operation.


■    ATTL was the first enterprise in China to successfully research molybdenum electrodes and application technology; these have applications in glass fiber drawing furnaces and glass kiln barrels, where they have replaced expensive platinum electrodes. This technology won third prize at the National Invention Award in 1981, and has been promoted and applied throughout the country.
