Quartz Furnaces

Field Introduction


Quartz glass features a single component of silicon dioxide. This kind of glass has a Mohs hardness up to level seven, with good high-temperature resistance, a low expansion coefficient, and good thermal shock resistance, chemical stability and electrical insulation properties. It is also able to transmit ultraviolet and infrared rays. The material is widely used in the production of electric light sources, semiconductors, optical fiber communications, lasers, optical coatings, laboratory instruments, medical equipment and high temperature and corrosion resistant chemical instruments, chemical industry, electronics, metallurgy, building materials and national defense industries.
The current generation of quartz drawn tube furnaces are known as continuous melting furnaces; these offer obvious advantages for continuous production compared with older models. High-purity quartz sand is continuously fed from the upper end of the furnace into the tungsten tube, while the tungsten rod is heated to above 2,100°C to provide suitable resistance. The high-purity quartz sand gradually melts into a quartz solution, flows out from the mouth of the material table from top to bottom, where it is cooled and formed instantly. The material table and the former combine to draw quartz tubes of different diameters and thicknesses, as well as continuous quartz melting products such as quartz plates and quartz rods.
