Material Introduction

Powder Preparation for Additive Manufacturing

Material Introduction

Milling process

Characteristics

Vacuum induction melting gas atomization

Metals are smelted in a vacuum environment, after which the melt flow is dispersed and atomized by the power of the high-pressure inert gas.

Hydrogenation / dehydrogenation

Metals are heated in hydrogen to generate brittle hydrides, which then decompose in a vacuum after the crushing process to release hydrogen.

Plasma spheroidization

The irregular powder is heated to a molten state by a high-temperature plasma torch, before being spheroidized under the action of surface tension. This hardens into a regular spherical shape after cooling.

Advantage

The alloy composition can be customized; content of impurities such as O, N, H, P, and S remains low.

Particle size and particle size distribution can be customized; suitable bulk and tap density.

High sphericity, no or very few satellite balls; good fluidity and spreadability.

Spherical powders can be provided for active and refractory metals.

Suitable for use in additive manufacturing equipment for various processes and models.

100% quality control, good batch stability.
