ITER Tungsten Plate and WCU Composite Parts

Product Introduction

Nuclear fusion research is a major international program initiated by the global scientific community to solve the future energy problems of mankind. The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor is a superconducting tokamak reactor capable of producing large-scale nuclear fusion reactions. The plasma ring lies in the annular envelope of the shielding cladding, and is required to absorb thermal power of 500,000 kilowatts, along with all the neutrons produced by the nuclear fusion reaction. Therefore, a material resistant to high temperature and high heat is used as the plasma-facing material. The WCU divertor produced by AT&M is a key component facing the plasma of the fusion reactor.

Plasma-facing materials are one of the most tested and critical materials used in fusion reactors. The main requirements for these materials are as follows: low sputtering rate, high thermal shock resistance, high thermal load capacity, low tritium retention, low activation radioactivity and low decay waste heat. Based on years of research, tungsten has been found to be the best choice among the metal materials that meet these conditions.

Company Advantage

More than 60 years of experience in the research and development of refractory materials, we are one of the earliest enterprises engaged in the research of refractory materials in China.

The company has participated in the ITER project since 2007, developing high-performance tungsten and tungsten-copper composite products that meet fusion requirements.

Our WCU divertor was successfully installed in the EAST project of the Hefei Institute of Material Science at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with experimental results repeatedly setting new world records.

The WCU divertor was successfully used in the French WEST project, meeting all test requirements and providing world-leading test results.
