Among refractory metals, molybdenum exhibits excellent thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, a low expansion coefficient, and good strength at high temperatures (1,100-1,650°C). Molybdenum is easier to process than tungsten. As a result, it is used in component manufacturing for the electronics and semiconductor industries, molybdenum sputtering targets, high-temperature furnaces, electron tubes, electric light sources, metal processing and tool manufacturing sectors, and the aerospace industry.

Molybdenum and its alloys are processed by rolling, forging and drawing to reach or approach the theoretical density. Strength, plasticity and toughness can be further improved, as can the formability.

Product Application

(1)Molybdenum has a high melting point, outstanding high temperature strength, low pollution, excellent machinability, and good thermal conductivity. It also maintains its excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures. Therefore, like tungsten, it can be used in various high-temperature components. These include molybdenum crucibles, molybdenum core rods, molybdenum rings, and molybdenum tubes.

(2)Molybdenum is also resistant to the erosion of molten glass, and its oxides are non-polluting. It can be used to produce electrodes, water jackets, protective plates, stirring paddles, and other components of glass furnaces.

(3)CMCC and CMC are three-layer structure materials. The core material is molybdenum copper or molybdenum, with both sides covered with copper. This provides a better alternative for high-power electronic components due to its lower thermal expansion coefficient and thermal conductivity, which are much better than WCu or MoCu. This helps cool various high-power components such as IGBT modules.


(4)Molybdenum and rhenium are both refractory metals. Molybdenum-rhenium alloys exhibit the high-temperature physical properties of rhenium and the excellent mechanical properties of molybdenum. They therefore offer excellent inherent properties.

Even at high temperatures, molybdenum-rhenium alloys maintain excellent ductility.
