Radiation Shielding

Field Introduction

Rays are one of the most important discoveries in modern physics, bringing new hope to the study of medicine and the structure of matter. Common rays include alpha rays, beta rays, gamma rays and neutron rays.

Generally speaking, rays have sufficient energy to penetrate human cancer cells when properly controlled, and are widely used in medical imaging diagnosis and radiation therapy. High-quality shielding materials can safely and reliably apply radiation to medical equipment, while efficiently shielding from radiation and guiding radiation beams.

Researchers initially used lead materials for simple protection. However, due to the weak protective nature of lead and the material itself being a toxic heavy metal, lead is no longer sufficient for modern safety requirements as the technology develops. After continuous testing and verification, tungsten-based high specific gravity materials have been widely used in radiation protection and guidance. They act as excellent shielding materials due to their high density (~18.5g/cc) and adjustability, as well as their ability to absorb high-energy rays (30-40% higher than the radiation protection factor of lead).

ATTL has decades of experience in providing radiation shielding parts for medical manufacturers at home and abroad. Its advanced technology and process control management can effectively ensure the quality and stability of medical products.
